Progress Report: The World Isn’t Standing Still. Why Are You?
Everywhere you look, organizations are making moves.
Jersey Mike’s is preparing for an IPO.
The NFL season is about to begin as every team chases a championship.
LeBron James has made another career move, reminding us that even the greatest athletes continue to position themselves for what’s next.
Companies are investing. Leaders are evolving. Teams are preparing. Markets are shifting.
The world is making progress.
The question is…
Are you?
One of my favorite sayings is that the most dangerous words a business owner can say are:
“I’m good.”
It sounds harmless.
But most of the time, “I’m good” doesn’t mean you’re winning.
It means you’ve become comfortable.
Comfort has ended more businesses than competition ever has.
The moment you believe you’ve arrived is usually the moment someone else starts passing you.
The companies winning today aren’t waiting until they’re forced to change.
They’re upgrading before they have to.
They’re hiring before they’re desperate.
They’re building culture before it’s broken.
They’re creating systems before growth exposes the cracks.
They’re making progress while everyone else is saying, “We’re good.”
History teaches us this lesson over and over again.
Blockbuster thought they were good.
Kodak thought they were good.
BlackBerry thought they were good.
Countless businesses weren’t destroyed because they lacked talent. They were destroyed because they became comfortable.
The greatest leaders never confuse today’s success with tomorrow’s opportunity.
They ask better questions.
- What do we need to improve?
- Where have we become comfortable?
- What conversations have we been avoiding?
- What opportunity are we ignoring because business feels “good enough?”
Growth begins the moment honesty replaces comfort.
As another NFL season begins, every team starts with the same goal: improve.
No team walks into training camp saying, “We’re good.”
They study film.
They develop talent.
They strengthen culture.
They prepare for what’s coming.
Business should be no different.
The organizations that dominate tomorrow are doing the work today.
So here’s this week’s Progress Report.
Don’t let “I’m good” become the reason you never discover what you’re truly capable of.
Your business can grow.
Your leadership can grow.
Your team can grow.
Your faith can grow.
Your life can grow.
But only if you’re willing to trade comfort for progress.
Because while the world keeps moving forward…
The only people who get left behind are the ones who believed they had already arrived.
This Week’s Progress Challenge
Ask yourself one question:
Where have I started saying “I’m good” when God is actually calling me to grow?
Identify one area.
Take one action.
Make progress.
